They can also act as expert witnesses in legal proceedings related to hair damage from hairdressing, offering specialized testimony on the cause, extent, and nature of the damage.

The concept of Trichological Consultancy was first introduced in London in 1902 with the founding of The Institute of Trichologists, which offers one of the most prestigious and internationally recognized diplomas in the field. Today, certified trichology education programs are offered by various institutions across the globe benefiting professionals from different fields of health care , cosmetic and hairdressing.

As of 2021, efforts in the UK aim to standardize Trichology education and establish it as a recognized allied healthcare field with clear guidelines.
